Finding Wellness & Serenity in Los Cabos

Updated: Feb 4

Finding time for self-care and rejuvenation can often be challenging in our busy lives.
As two best friends juggling the responsibilities of marriage, family, and work, my girlfriend and I yearned for a getaway that would allow us to reconnect with ourselves and prioritize our wellness.
Our destination of choice was the stunning Viceroy Los Cabos in San Jose Los Cabos, renowned for its breathtaking architecture and serene surroundings. Viceroy Los Cabos has expansive views of the sea, the beachfront, four pools, a jacuzzi, and endless places to get lost on the property. Join us as we embark on a transformative journey toward inner peace and relaxation in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Warm Welcome: When we arrived at Viceroy Los Cabos, we were greeted by the warm and inviting spirit of the staff, which set the tone for our stay, and every detail was handled with care.
We were welcomed with their refreshing signature mocktail, instantly transporting us to a world of tranquility. Accompanied by a friendly staff member, we were escorted to our room, where we were given a thorough overview of the property and its layout. The sense of hospitality and genuine care made us feel right at home.

A Room with a View: Our room was in building five on the third floor and offered a breathtaking view of the ocean and the sprawling property of endless pools glistening in the sun.

The double queen bed and outdoor patio with a day bed provided the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and contemplation. The amenities, especially the ROIL bath products, did not disappoint. The simplicity of the room's design allowed the natural beauty outside to take center stage, reminding us of the serenity that awaited us.

Culinary Delights: Viceroy Los Cabos treated us to a culinary experience that delighted our taste buds. With over six restaurants and lounges, we were excited to explore!
Poke of the day
We found ourselves drawn to the Nidito Beach + Poolside Bar, where we indulged in grilled locally caught fish, making the best fish tacos and the best poke made from locally caught fish and fresh vegetables. The flavors were exceptional, and we soon craved these delectable dishes for lunch throughout our stay.

The NIDO, an Asian-inspired restaurant on-site, provided a unique dining experience that infused local flavors into every dish. We savored our meals in this intimate and enchanting setting.

Wellness and Relaxation: One of the highlights of our stay was the Spa at Viceroy Los Cabos. This was no ordinary spa but a haven of holistic and traditional practices inspired by the indigenous Mexican people. We were fortunate to partake in a sound bath healing session led by the spa director, Vanessa. The experience transported us to a state of deep relaxation, aligning our mind, body, and spirit.

We also experienced a new offering, an energy healing treatment based on the Harmonyum Healing practice that raised our vibration and shedded negativity. Our new friend Rufina took us into the spa experience of dry and wet saunas, a hot pool, a cold plunge, and stone beds that are like warm cocoons. Products were organic, and some were made locally. It was a transformative journey toward inner peace that refreshed and rejuvenated us.

Sunsets and Rooftop Delights: The first sunset at Viceroy Los Cabos was a magical experience. We found ourselves at the hotel's Cielomar Rooftop, sipping top-notch local wines as we watched the sky change colors. The breathtaking panoramic views provided the perfect backdrop for a moment of reflection and gratitude.
Indulging in Poolside Bliss: Our second day was spent by the upper pool, surrounded by lush greenery and serenity. We started our morning with delicious oat milk lattes and refreshing kale and fruit smoothies, specially made for us upon request. The staff at Viceroy Los Cabos went above and beyond to accommodate our preferences, infusing each moment with love and care.
We returned to the Nitido Beach and Poolside bar for lunch, enjoying refreshing Pina Coladas made with fresh coconut and pineapple. It was the perfect way to cool off and savor the tropical flavors of Los Cabos.

A Day of Adventure: I was ready to feel the sea and decided to go paddle boarding with High Tide, a local woman-owned business for adventure seekers to indulge in the magic of Cabo in nature. I was taken by two guides, Marco and Paco, both extremely knowledgeable about the area, the Sea of Cortez, surf, and paddling. I got on my board, and off we went to the infamous Arch in Cabo San Lucas, the rock formation that erupts from the sea. So many of us have seen the pictures but paddling got me up close and personal.

We also snorkeled off one of the small private beach-like areas off the Arch—such clear water and schools of bright fish swimming around smaller rock formations. We had a group of women in tow on a bachelorette party that made it more fun and had lots of laughter.

Evening night out: During our getaway, we ventured beyond the resort and explored the charming historical town of San Jose Los Cabos. Our first stop was the tequila shops, where we tasted the region's finest spirits. Immersed in the vibrant local culture, we continued our exploration by visiting art galleries and admiring the creativity and talent of the local artists. As the day progressed, we needed a little pick-me-up, leading us to Ruba's Bakery & Bistro. Here, we discovered the most delightful coconut milk lattes, so delicious that I couldn't resist purchasing some of their coffee to bring home to savor the experience long after the trip.
With our spirits lifted, we headed to Tamarindos, a remarkable family-owned farm-to-table restaurant on a regenerative organic farm just outside the main town. As we journeyed from small city streets to rugged dirt roads, we entered a rustic paradise. The restaurant's new bar area, nestled under a palapa and adorned with outdoor couches and tables made from tree trunks, provided the perfect spot to take in the breathtaking views of the farm, surrounded by mango trees and a labyrinth garden brimming with herbs used in their signature cocktails. The margarita options were endless, with flavors like purple basil, passion fruit, and mango sourced from the farm.
After enjoying our drinks and soaking in the tranquil ambiance, we were led to our table in the outdoor dining room, illuminated by soft café lights. The menu at Tamarindos showcased the regenerative farm's bounty, featuring locally sourced fish, meats, and produce beautifully presented on rustic ceramic plates. Opting for a lighter meal, we chose the mango ceviche, a refreshing beet arugula salad, and shrimp tacos served on jicama tortillas. Each bite was a burst of freshness, and the impeccable presentation enhanced the overall dining experience. Despite being satiated, our curiosity led us to indulge in a homemade dessert. We couldn't resist the temptation of the refreshing key lime pie, lovingly prepared from scratch. Each spoonful was a delightful combination of tangy lime and creamy sweetness, a perfect ending to our farm-to-table culinary adventure.

Our excursion outside the resort allowed us to explore the local town and introduced us to the authentic flavors and hospitality of the region. It was a reminder that the true essence of a destination lies in its people, culture, and culinary treasures. As we returned to Viceroy Los Cabos, our hearts and taste buds were filled with memories that would stay with us long after our getaway ended.
Meaningful Moments: Our getaway to Viceroy Los Cabos was a transformative experience that allowed us to reconnect with ourselves and find our wellness. Amidst the stunning architecture, breathtaking views, and warm hospitality, we found the perfect balance between relaxation and exploration. From indulging in delicious culinary creations to immersing ourselves in traditional spa treatments, every moment was infused with a sense of serenity and rejuvenation. As we ventured beyond the resort to explore the local town and savor the farm-to-table delights, we discovered the true essence of Los Cabos—its vibrant culture, friendly people, and authentic flavors.

This blissful getaway serves as a reminder of the importance of finding time for self-care and nurturing friendships. We returned home with hearts full of cherished memories and a renewed sense of well-being.
